Festival Events

As you’ll see on our Map & Guide (on-line or download PDF), we’ve got a wide range of activities, events and exhibitions around town this July!

BigBots

Created by regional artists, these works challenge the public perception about what a robot is, and also herald other Robot 250 programs and events at each Host Site. There are 11 BigBots installed at various locations around Pittsburgh, celebrating robotics as a part of the region’s artistic creativity and our robotics heritage and future.

Exhibitions

Robots created at the 2007-08 workshops are on display at a number of museums and galleries. Text and graphics accompany the robots and tell the story of how they came to be created.
The Mattress Factory 1414 Building will play host to a number of robot-themed art installations, guest lectures and other happenings.

Activities

Make your own robot at Carnegie Science Center, or decorate a robotic flower at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Or, take one of our Canary sensor packs and explore the area around these museums on your own discovery ‘safari.’ Times vary, and admission is required. Contact each museum for details.

Events

Exhibit gallery openings, movie screenings, theater productions, discussions, lectures and forums and other special events will be on-going throughout July and beyond.
